Background information[]
Alva Industries first appeared in Hardware #1, and primarily appeared in Hardware's series, not Static. After Edwin Alva's death, Curtis Metcalf became its CEO. Alva's name is a reference to Thomas Alva Edison, who Dwayne McDuffie has suggested was the inspiration due to how the character exploits the labor of others.[1]
