"When I was your age, we didn't have computers or fax machines or..."
"Yeah, yeah, and you walked ten miles on your bare feet to work every day."
— Perry White and Lois Lane[1]

Perry White was the Editor in Chief of the Daily Planet. He was considered a friend to the staff of the newspaper, but usually had a somewhat gruff demeanor.

History[]

Perry White was a tough but fair-minded boss of the Daily Planet, who had high standards for the journalists and reporters working for him.

When Clark Kent is hired to join the Daily Planet, Perry assigns Lois to show Clark around the next few days, much to her displeasure. When Superman first appears in action, Perry demands that his reporting staff find out who this man is, saying that the public is clamoring for information and is in a state of near panic. Looking at video footage of the "angel", Lois dubs him "Superman" after the "S" on his costume's chest. Perry agrees with the name and runs with it in the Daily Planet newspaper, thus coining the name around the world.

Several years later, he would be present during Superman's funeral, paying his respects.
