Karl Malone was Pulverizer and a member of the Hoop Squad.

History[]

Karl Malone was an LA Lakers player when he was recruited by the National Biotech Authority to be the pilot of one of Dr. Andrews' bioenhancer suits. He became a member of the Hoop Squad.

Powers and abilities[]

With the bioenhancer suit, Pulverizer could increase the size of his hands. In addition to crushing things with it, he could also emit a sonic discharge from them.

Background information[]

Pulverizer was the only Hoop Squad member to be voiced by his real-life counterpart, Karl Malone. Following the episode's recording session, Karl Malone took pictures for a half hour for the PR people, then stayed after and signed about a hundred autographs for fans.[1][2]

Discussing his involvement in the show, Malone said "it's been a long time coming, to have a show designed for older kids as well as younger kids. To be a part of it, I don't know how it all happened and how it came together, but I'm glad to be a part of it. And I love my character. He's bad. And I like that." Going on to describe the similarities between being a superhero and an NBA star, he noted "You're a tough guy, but you're a nice guy all the same. And people relate to that."[3]
