Neil Patrick Harris broke through at the age of 16, in Doogie Howser, M.D. (1989–1993) (alongside James Sikking). Later roles included Carl Jenkins in Starship Troopers (1997) and Barney Stinson in How I Met Your Mother (2005–2014). In the world of comic heroes, he has played Spider-Man in the short-lived Spider-Man: The New Animated Series (2003), the Flash (Barry Allen) in Justice League: The New Frontier (2008), and the Music Meister in Batman: The Brave and the Bold (2009). He also played the titular character in Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog (2008), the archnemesis of Captain Hammer (Nathan Fillion).
