20th Anniversary of Batman: The Animated Series
Wow! Hard to believe it's been two full decades since one of the best animated shows of all time was released (and, of course, when the DCAU all started). I think some commemorating is in order.
Aside from the slick animation and near-perfect voice cast, the show was unlike anything we've ever seen. Stories involving drugs, pain, suffering and even death. Not very common for a childrens' cartoon.
It all comes down to one thing: Maturity. That's why B:TAS is so profound and abstract (I'm thinking "Heart of Ice" and "I Am the Night" right now). It really took animated shows to the next level. Oh, how I miss the 90s...
