Kalanor was the home planet of the Kalanorian species. The Py'tar was the sentient heart of the planet. It is also the homeworld of Justice League villain Despero, the founder of the Legion of the Third Eye. Kalanor became the center for Despero's vast empire during the Justice League's early years. Despero used the Flame of Py'tar to conquer Kalanor and the surrounding planets and was only stopped by the combined efforts of the Kalanorian Resistance movement and that of Hawkgirl, Flash, Martian Manhunter, and Green Lanterns Katma Tui, John Stewart, and Kilowog. After his defeat, the Py'tar spread new foliage and greenery around the planet's sterile wastelands transforming the former desolate planet into a paradise.
